North Star Petroleum expands footprint on North Slope

Saltchuk welcomes NANA Oilfield Services to the family!
Anchorage, AK – NANA Oilfield Services (NOSI) has become the newest member of the Saltchuk family of companies.
NOSI will operate as as a sister company to Delta Western, the leading distributor of petroleum products and lubricants in Alaska, under North Star Petroleum, the petroleum distribution unit of Saltchuk.
NOSI’s facilities in Deadhorse distribute jet A and B aviation fuel, diesel, heating fuels and gasoline as well as drilling fluids and potable water to camps all over the North Slope. The acquisition further diversifies and expands North Star Petroleum’s footprint in the state.
“We are very happy to have NOSI as well as Brad Osborne and his team join the Saltchuk family of companies,” said Brian Bogen, President and CEO of North Star Petroleum, “We currently serve the North Slope from Delta Western’s location in Fairbanks. Expanding services in Deadhorse is reflective of our long term commitment to the state of Alaska and our oil and gas customers.”
The purchase was completed on April 30, 2016. Leadership from North Star Petroleum and Saltchuk will travel to meet with NOSI’s 36 employees in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Deadhorse over the coming week.

Carlile helps out Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Alaska

Anchorage – Carlile trucks were part of a huge community effort in Anchorage Saturday, April 16, 2016. Staged at three Fred Meyer stores, Carlile trailers acted as collection points for the annual Scouting for Food drive. A long-time supporter of this important community event organized by the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Alaska, the Scouting for Food drive gathers non-perishable foods, baby formula and diapers from the local neighborhoods.
In total, the 2016 Scouting for Food brought in 11,705 pounds of food and $2,958 in financial donations for Food Bank of Alaska to distribute through its network of food pantries and meal programs. That amounts to roughly 20,000 meals for Alaskan children, families and seniors in need.
Carlile has been a long-time supporter of this important cause, as well as a partner for many years with the Food Bank of Alaska. Throughout the years, Scouting for Food has raised more than a half a million pounds of food for Alaskans in need.

Michael Noone steps up in role of TOTE Maritime Alaska President
Federal Way, WA. – TOTE Maritime Alaska is pleased to announce that Michael Noone will assume the role of President, January 1, 2016.
Noone joined TOTE Maritime Alaska as Chief Operating Officer in August 2013, bringing 28 years of experience in the shipping and logistics field. As COO, he has been responsible for creating strategic and operating plans for sales, pricing and operations.
Noone received his bachelor’s degree from Wagner College and is certified by some of the nation’s top executive programs in Logistics, including the SMEAL College of Business Administration at Penn State University and the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University. He also earned certifications in Advance Management from INSEAD, in Strategic Planning and Implementation from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and is a past Steering Committee Member at the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA).
Noone’s predecessor John Parrott, who has served as the company’s President since 2009, will join TOTE’s sister company, Foss Maritime as Chief Operating Officer, where he will be responsible for the oversight of Foss’s key operating divisions.

Totem Ocean Trailer Express, Sea Star Line are now TOTE Maritime
Princeton, NJ. – TOTE, one of the nations most respected Jones Act carriers, today announced a shift within its operating companies. Sea Star Line, which serves Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, and Totem Ocean Trailer Express, serving the Alaska market, will now be known collectively as TOTE Maritime.
Both companies provide critical infrastructure and cargo to Alaska and Puerto Rico and are market leaders. Sea Star Line has delivered goods to Puerto Rico for more than 30 years with twice weekly reliable service that is responsible for goods traveling from the U.S. to the island.
Totem Ocean Trailer Express also provides twice weekly service to Alaska and is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Totem Ocean delivers goods that are needed by communities throughout Alaska.
In addition to their successful track records serving the market, both companies are switching their vessels to run on natural gas, part of TOTE’s long term strategy to be the most environmentally friendly shipping company in the world. Saltchuk’s Alaska-Washington companies contribute more than 45,400 meals to local food banks during 2-week food drive in April

Saltchuk and its companies Carlile Transportation, Delta Western/Inlet Petroleum, Foss Maritime, Interstate Distributor, Northern Air Cargo/Northern Air Maintenance & TOTE joined forces April 15-May 1 to raise funds and food donations for Emergency Food Network, Northwest Harvest and Food Bank of Alaska.
Five locations in Alaska and seven locations in Washington, representing more than 1,000 employees in Washington and more than 700 in Alaska, collected foods and funds to support their local food banks.
In just two weeks, Saltchuk companies raised $8,906 and donated 2,220 pounds of food, equaling more than 45,400 meals for families in need!
