From humble beginnings in 1985 as a two tug-and-barge operation to introducing the world’s first LNG-powered containerships, TOTE’s commitment to the people of Puerto Rico has never wavered.
TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico connects the U.S. and Puerto Rico with its two new LNG-powered Marlin Class vessels, the first of their kind in the world. The Isla Bella and Perla Del Caribe sail twice a week between Jacksonville and San Juan, providing reliable shipments of everything from groceries to construction supplies and raw materials for Puerto Rico’s manufacturing industry. In addition to their positive impact on the environment, the new vessels can carry about double what the previous ships transported and bring nearly 40 percent of all cargo to Puerto Rico.
To name the new LNG-powered vessels, TOTE Maritime partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico in a contest. The two winning names were selected from hundreds of entries. Each winner received a university scholarship.
Since 1975, TOTE Services has provided full technical management and partial management/ crewing services for nearly one hundred vessels of various sizes and configurations.
