Saltchuk Corporate Home
Saltchuk is a privately owned family of diversified transportation and distribution companies headquartered in Seattle. With consolidated annual revenue of nearly $2.75 billion and approximately 5,500 employees, Saltchuk is ranked among the largest privately held businesses in Washington. Throughout North America, Saltchuk companies provide Air Cargo, Marine Services, Energy Distribution, Domestic Shipping, International Shipping and Logistics. We believe in–and champion–the inherent value of our companies’ individual brands. The Corporate Home provides leadership and resources to our companies, but not direct management of their operations. Although Saltchuk has grown considerably since its founding in 1982, the Corporate Home employs only about 50 people and has retained the collegial and entrepreneurial culture of a much smaller organization. Saltchuk is a values-driven organization. We put safety first. We are reliable — we take care of our customers and conduct business with honesty and integrity. We are committed to each other, to protecting our environment, and to contributing to our communities, in a work environment where anyone would be proud for their children to work.
Lines of Business
Saltchuk is organized in six lines of business that are responsible for the operation and growth of a related portfolio of businesses:
“Our goal is to get everyone on board with a shared direction. We do not intend to change the fact that Saltchuk is a holding company. We believe the autonomy that we provide our operating leadership has been one of the keys to our success. We look for our operating companies to build their business strategies and to take ownership in their financial results. But we also believe that we can become a stronger and greater organization as a whole.”
Areas of Operation
Saltchuk is a strong family of companies spanning across North America, specialized in serving Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
