Coleman Oil joins NorthStar and the Saltchuk family of companies

NorthStar Energy Completes Coleman Oil Acquisition, Creating Leading Pacific Northwest Fuel Distribution Network

NorthStar Energy announced today its acquisition of Coleman Oil Company, bringing together Coleman Oil and CityServiceValcon to create the Pacific Northwest’s leading independent fuel distribution network.

“As a family-owned business, we recognize the significance of what the Coleman family has created and entrusted to us,” said Bert Valdman, President and CEO of NorthStar Energy. “We appreciate that they came to us seeking a partnership that would support their long-term vision and chose us because of our shared values. This combination preserves what makes each company successful while providing access to expanded resources and opportunities.”

The combined Coleman Oil and CityServiceValcon operations include Coleman Oil’s 91 cardlock fueling sites, 100 fuel delivery trucks, and 12 convenience stores, plus CityServiceValcon’s established network throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. Together, the platform will distribute nearly 600 million gallons annually.

Ian Coleman continues as President, now leading the combined Coleman Oil and CityServiceValcon operations under NorthStar Energy. Tim O’Neal, who successfully integrated CityServiceValcon into NorthStar Energy in 2022, serves as a key member of the leadership team supporting the integration strategy and long-term growth vision.

“We’re combining the best of both organizations while maintaining the local identity and market expertise that our customers value,” said Ian Coleman. “Both Coleman Oil and CityServiceValcon will continue to operate with the brands and relationships that have made each company successful, while benefiting from being part of the larger Saltchuk family of companies.”

Preserving Local Brands and Expertise:

The integration approach emphasizes maintaining the Coleman Oil and CityServiceValcon brands while leveraging shared resources and operational best practices. Both companies will continue to serve their respective markets with the local expertise and customer relationships that drive long-term loyalty.
