Coordinate maintenance programs in the islands with US shore maintenance department. Assist in determining equipment specifications and utilization. Train personnel as needed. Offer recommendations to enable our island maintenance departments to become more productive and reduce cost. Assist in major or minor repairs upon request.

Train Island Mechanics in the procedures and policies of a complete maintenance program.

Implement and verify a maintenance cost tracking system for Island locations in conjunction with Tropical Shipping Automotive Maintenance Department. Monitor maintenance reports insuring compliance.

Survey existing island locations for present and future equipment needs.

Assist Island Managers and Fleet Managers in determining equipment specifications.

Assist New Business Development in determining equipment needs when contemplating new port start-up.

Assist Island Maintenance Departments in determining necessary repairs and assisting the department when coordination with Automotive Maintenance is necessary.

Assist Island Managers by offering advice on budget impact.

Assist Island personnel on parts inventory needs and proper inventory control.

Assist Island personnel in repairs needed.

Coordinate with West Palm Beach as additional support is needed.

Performs all other related duties as requested.




High School Diploma or equivalent


Five to seven years experience in equipment maintenance programs and procedures, equipment design utilization, government policy and procedures involving importation and exportation of vehicles and equipment.


Valid Local Driver's License and Valid Passport


30% travel to various Tropical locations.


Operations - Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer or handheld. Ability to frequently twist, bend, reach, squat, kneel, climb on equipment, push/pull 50 pounds, crawl, lift and carry at least 80 pounds on a daily basis. Able to withstand constant exposure to extreme weather conditions. Ability to travel in various modes of transportation (e.g. automobile, airplane, train etc.) Occasionally exposed to outside elements during the course of traveling.
