Job Purpose

This position supports NorthStar Energy’s Environmental and Compliance group, rolling up to the Environmental and Compliance Officer.  The role of the department is to ensure ethical, legal and environmentally compliant behaviors across all NorthStar Energy companies.  This internship will support the department in its mission to protect the people and environments impacted by our businesses from within and without the organization.

Professional Requirements

Motivated, self-directed, organized, committed and enthusiastic about tackling challenges. Currently enrolled in higher education. Passionate about protecting the environment. Excellent written communication skills. Competent with Microsoft Office.

This position will work members of the Environmental and Compliance group to create the following key deliverables.

Comparison of fisheries data between major operating seasons

Summary of tank farms and tank vessels operating in Alaska

Research alternative energy capabilities and initiatives underway in Alaska

Event Reporting summary table

List of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation contacts

Map of organization structure of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation

Inputs into the Environmental Procedures Manual

Spill data analysis tools and communications to be distributed company-wide

Findings from forensic research of properties (ownership, title, and operations)
