Company Description: StratAir, headquartered in Miami, provides scheduled air cargo service to San Juan, Santo Domingo and Port-au-Prince in the Caribbean and Lima, Peru in South America. Additionally, StratAir provides charter services to other locations in Mexico, Central America, Caribbean and South America. StratAir’s Miami facility provides over 10,800 square meters, or 120,000 square feet, of warehousing space in support of both import and export needs.

GSE Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on ground support equipment and stationary equipment such as tugs, vehicles, aircraft loading equipment, forklifts, ground power units and other equipment in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promotes the safety culture to the department and throughout the company.
Performs preventative and routine maintenance such as oil changes, replacing/adding coolant and fluids, brake and tire changes, etc. on ground equipment.
Performs minor/major repair of ground support equipment such as starter motors, alternators, batteries, radiators, hydraulic components, etc.
Transports equipment to be repaired by driving, towing or pushing vehicle into service area.
Inspects equipment to identify defective or broken parts, proper fluid levels and general wear.
Troubleshoots problems with ground support and stationary equipment.
Ensures tools and equipment are maintained in an effective, safe working condition.
Receives work orders and obtains the necessary tools required for the repair.
Completes work orders and provides status on any “open” work orders.
Orders parts, stocks parts and maintains inventory with accurate record keeping.
Keeps work area clean and free of any safety hazards.
All other duties as assigned.
Regular attendance is required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, subordinates or other employees, customers and the general public.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages.
OTHER SKILLS: Must be able to manage multiple priorities. Must have a working knowledge of airfreight operations and services.
