Insert and remove pins in containers, provide clear signals to Master Stevedore to assist with loading and discharging the vessels. Check and record containers and equipment being loaded or discharged from vessels.

Perform daily shipside support with pins, line handling and gangways.
Prepare various reports including discharge, loadlist and ships reports.
Check seal on containers and record container numbers and seal numbers. Notify supervisor of damaged containers.
Record and verify refrigerated container temperatures on loadlists.
Assist in rigging special lifts and slings and use steadying lines when necessary.
Provide the Master Stevedore with precise and clear directional signals in loading and discharging vessels to ensure accurate placement of containers and cargo on and of the vessels.
Assist Master Stevedore with maneuvering of crane.
Place appropriate seal on inbound and outbound containers not having seals, and record the information on the seal discrepancy report.
Check all empty containers for trash or damage and record information.
Advise equipment operators during vessel discharge of container status.
Direct equipment operator to the proper staging area for all interline/foreign empty containers.
Inspect and clean shipside work area to ensure safe environment and properly maintained rigging gear.
Monitor work areas on-board vessels to ensure personal safety.
Load and brace automobiles into containers for outgoing shipment as necessary.
Perform other duties as requested.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE: One year experience in related field required including experience in fork-lift operations and fork-lift certification.
LICENSE: Valid Local Driver’s License, Class A or ability to obtain within 30 days. Certified to operate a forklift.
PHYSICAL: Operations - Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer or handheld. Ability to frequently twist, bend, reach, squat, kneel, climb on equipment, push/pull 50 pounds, crawl, lift and carry at least 80 pounds on a daily basis. Able to withstand constant exposure to extreme weather conditions.
