As a Senior Accountant at Saltchuk, you’ll focus your keen attention to detail on the critical accounting jobs that keep our company running smoothly. The job requires you to help prepare routine financial reporting like forecasts and actuals, consolidated financial documents, EBIT, EBITDA, cash flow forecasts, and quarterly reports. It also includes performing month-end close activities for the corporate home and for Saltchuk’s consolidated accounting records. You’ll reconcile assigned account balance sheets and craft new reconciliations as needed and assist during our external audit, getting the right information to auditors. Working closely with the Treasury Department, you’ll prepare weekly short-term corporate cash flow forecasts. You’ll provide a helping hand to build our Annual Plan, guiding department heads and teaming with other Finance team members to complete the plan and fulfill reporting requirements. As you identify them, you’ll recommend and implement improvements in execution for the corporate home office’s accounting operations. Our risk management department will rely on you to ensure proper reconciliation of funds received from insurance companies. You’ll originate systems reports, especially within Host, to make data accumulation more efficient. You will be called on to lead as a key player in implementing a new revenue recognition standard (ASC 606) and lease accounting standard (ASC 840) for Saltchuk and its subsidiaries.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA license.
- At least four years of relevant accounting experience, including two years with a Top 20 Public Accounting Firm in either accounting or internal auditing with a record of progression with the firm.
- Knowledge of GAAP inside and out and the ability to research technical accounting guidance.
- Experience preparing financial statements and reconciliations.
- You are an effective communicator, with demonstrated ability to collaborate and present your work confidently and effectively.
- Preferably, you have exposure to consolidations.
- You don’t wait around to be told what to do – you take the initiative to accomplish tasks.
- You work well with people at all levels.
