Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of accounting records, timely reporting of financial results, ensuring proper process controls are in place and recommending and ensuring adherence to accounting policies.


  • Operates safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures
  • Coordinates monthly closing activities; owner of the monthly close calendar
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries and general ledger posting to accounts
  • Determines proper recording of financial transaction and approves transactions within designated limits
  • Assists with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
  • Reconciles and maintains balance sheet accounts
  • Monitors tax return due dates, collects appropriate data, and prepares federal, state and local tax returns
  • Cross trains with other department employees
  • Prepares quarterly forecasting reports for all departments
  • Acts as a resource for others with respect to general ledger software maintenance, monthly financial closes, and special report writing
  • Responds to audit requests, written and oral, internal and external
  • Assists in and/or prepares reports for parent company, including monthly financial statements and intercompany activities
  • Engages with operations to ensure that activity is recorded accurately and in a way that provides meaningful information to constituents
  • Responsible for updating existing policies and procedures and participates in the drafting and implementation of new policies
  • Will reconcile Comdata credit card statements
  • Responsible for Canadian banking, SPG financial representative, and fixed assets
  • Performs daily banking activities
  • All other duties as assigned


  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or related discipline
  • CPA preferred
  • Three to five years of general accounting experience required
  • Experience in the transportation industry preferred
