JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:

Responsible for managing the sales and services for various regions and/or types of services offered by Foss. Designs and implements sales programs, developing strategies to optimize sales in assigned region. Compiles and analyzes competitive sales information and recommends actions pertaining to new services development, improvement, pricing and implementation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Customer Relations

  • Provides personal and direct contact between organization and its customers.
  • Identifies and contacts potential new customers for organization services.
  • Represents organization at various industry business and social functions.

Revenue Enhancement

  • Provides price quotations; prepares bids, negotiates rates; solves service and/or rate disagreements.
  • Prepares and implements rate schedule increases as appropriate.
  • Monitors customer contracts for termination dates, operational clauses, timely implementation of escalation factors, and other pertinent criteria. Participates in the renegotiation of these assigned contracts.

General Administrative

  • Provides budgets, plans and forecasts in compliance with company standards necessary to predict assigned business segment activity.
  • Compiles and publishes various statistical information for business analysis purposes.
  • Responsible for collection of accounts receivable, with emphasis on timely payment and collection of overdue accounts.
  • Performs special duties and other projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to all company policies.
  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

Interdepartmental Coordination

  • Helps manage company resources to maximize utilization.
  • Works with customer service to resolve scheduling problems and following through with affected customer.
  • Works with other operations positions in a coordinating or facilitation mode to assist in providing the best possible service level to customer.

Company Support

  • Provides quotations, customer support and other backup as needed.
  • Participates in weekend 24-hour sales coverage rotation.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Requires excellent communication and human relation skills necessary in dealing with customers and various organization employees.
  • The ability to take rejection, deal with difficult personality types and stressful situations and make independent decisions in areas of rate development, customer relations, and problem solving is necessary.
  • Knowledge of the maritime industry, and its applications to lines of business and a general understanding of how Foss’ business work is required.
  • Ability to develop, understand, interpret and analyze accounting and financial information for preparation of proposals.
  • PC skills including MS Office.
  • Performs special duties and other projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to all company policies.
  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

This position generally requires a minimum of five years work experience in the marine business and five years experience in outside sales. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
