This position is responsible for ensuring a high level of fleet (rolling stock and equipment) readiness and availability for operations for the Jacksonville and West Palm Beach terminals, by prioritizing staffing, work schedules and other resources of R & M.

  • Operate safely and in compliance with all established USDOT/OSHA policies and procedures
  • Communicates and coordinates with Operations to ensure adequate staffing and resources to maintain the highest level of fleet readiness and quality in order to meet equipment needs
  • Prioritizes schedules, repairs and workloads of shop personnel and contractors
  • Coordinates all other elements of equipment repairs including parts and third party services
  • Reviews and authorizes major repairs and shop expenditures
  • Approves shop personnel timecards for payroll
  • Actively involved with recruiting, retention, mentoring and training, counseling, performance management and wage reviews
  • Acts as a key liaison with key vendors and third party suppliers
  • Primary person of responsibility for shop and personnel safety and environmental performance
  • Participate in development, review and reporting all key financial KPI’s including budgets, R&M and P&L.
  • Coordinates the disposal of equipment/scrap assets, trailers, tractors, etc.
  • Take delivery of new equipment, inspect and approve for operational readiness
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

·   High school diploma or GED equivalent
·   Technical school diploma or certification preferred
·   Ten years vehicle/equipment maintenance experience required
·   Five years supervisory experience

·    Expert level mechanical aptitude
·    Expert level troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
·    Expert level knowledge of equipment/truck/trailer design and functionality
·    Expert level knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic systems
·    Proficient MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
