Profile

This position is responsible for the supervision of the Alaska Operations Specialists, Alaska Projects, Alaska Capital and Operating Budgets, as well as providing back up management support to other departments. The work schedule will adjust depending on operational requirements.

Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Carry’s out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employee; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Coordinate weekly scheduling of available resources.
  • Communicate with other departments to meet internal and external customer needs.
  • Implement and maintain quality controls that ensure the department is operating effectively and efficiently — this includes verifying processes are followed, the output is accurate, and performed timely. Make key day to day decisions. Perform key departmental duties in the manager’s absence.
  • Contribute input for process and production improvements to meet company goals.
  • Effectively perform additional duties and handle special projects as assigned.
  • Support other departments in the operations group. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including planning, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Extract and analyze data from corporate software including not limited to – Lawson, Hyperion, Mainsail and CargoWise.
  • Alaska Operations primary liaison with IT team for problem resolution, monitoring metrics, systems testing, and process improvements.
  • Act as project manager for Alaska lead projects.
  • Serve as Alaska’s auditor for our quality initiatives and ISO certifications.
  • Act as the lead for operating and capital budgets.

 Key Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Three to Five years of transportation or logistics experience
    • Two to Three years of supervisory experience
    • Project management experience preferred

  • Basic math skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high level of accuracy.
  • Computer literate, with the ability to utilize software applications and be proficient in Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
