Who are you?

You’re a payroll professional and much more. The Total Rewards Specialist is an integral part of the Human Resources Shared Services team, responsible for coordinating payroll, benefits, rewards, and recognition programs for NorthStar and its operating companies. Your career experience has all led to this – competently prioritizing multiple payrolls and benefits programs across multiple states and building an engaged workforce with impactful rewards programs.

The Role

You’ll report to the V.P. Of Human Resources and focus on both routine payroll and benefits administration functions as well as improving and presenting NorthStar rewards.

  • You’ll process multiple biweekly payrolls across multiple states, including garnishments, special payments, and benefits deferrals
  • You’ll manage payroll and benefits within ADP Workforce Now, as well as our relationship with our payroll vendor
  • You’ll coordinate benefits administration in ADP (medical, dental, FSA, HSA, Life, LTD, and EAP) including enrollments, employee changes, system administration, and compliance
  • You’ll uphold and evolve total rewards policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring accuracy and controls
  • You’ll compile and analyze routine and ad hoc total rewards reports including payroll registers, benefits file uploads, ACA reporting, W-2’s, Worker’s Compensation data, and more
  • You’ll reconcile 401(k) funding and partner on internal and external audits
  • You’ll train managers and employees and address their time and attendance, payroll, and benefits questions
  • You’ll work with the benefits broker and HR team to ensure smooth Open Enrollment

  • You have an associate’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field
  • You have 2+ years of payroll experience or an equivalent combination of education and payroll experience
  • You have a solid understanding of federal and state wage and tax laws and compliance regulations
  • You have proven an ability to provide a high level of customer service and radiate strong interpersonal skills
  • You have solid MS Excel, Word, and Outlook skills
  • You are organized, able to prioritize, multi-task, and are excellent with details
  • You have a strong command of English for effective verbal and written communications
  • The icing on the cake: you have coordinated benefits and have work experience with ADP Workforce Now
