Tropical Shipping

Provide freight and customer service to shippers of outward cargo to all destinations including northbound, inter-island and interline. To monitor or coordinate all inter-island shipments transshipped through the port.

Quotes northbound rates, advises shippers of necessary documentation to be submitted and keeps a daily quotation log.
Gathers all necessary information for Booking Form from customer.
Ensures shipping instructions received from shipper.
Ensures shipper submits all required documents.
Completes Pending Sail Form and issues booking number.
Verifies the Equipment Control Department for return of container, verifying number and seal.
Makes bookings for interline northbound shipments.
Requests connecting carrier equipment from Equipment control Department in advance of shipment.
Rates cargo and record all charges on Receive for Shipment Bill of Lading.
Completes Received for Shipment Bill. Ensures Received for Shipment bill is thoroughly completed so that Traffic Department simply has to input the information received from the Freight Services Coordinator.
Coordinates all inter-island transshipments to ensure book on first available vessel.
Performs all other duties as requested.


EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE: Two years experience in office procedures or a related field.
LICENSE: Valid Local Driver's License
PHYSICAL: Office Environment - Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer. Ability to bend or stoop to retrieve lower shelf files. Ability to reach overhead to retrieve upper shelf files. Ability to sit 1/3 - 2/3 of day. Ability to work on feet for 1/3 - 2/3 day.
