POSITION PROFILE (Job Summary)
This position is responsible for coordinating and managing the multi-state payroll process for Northern Aviation Services and its subsidiaries.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
Ensure employees are paid timely and accurately by:
o Supervising payroll staff in the processing of bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls
o Maintaining payroll and timekeeping system master files
o Auditing to determine that payrolls, union contracts and benefits are being processed correctly
o Ensuring compliance with applicable local, state and federal wage and hour laws
o Timely and accurate processing of new hires, terminations, promotions, periodic pay changes and changes in benefits and deductions
o Maintaining accurate PTO and personal time balances
Supports the Accounting function and general management of the Company by:
o Reviewing all payroll and outside provider filings for accuracy. This includes:
Payroll tax deposits
Payroll tax return filings
Any other payroll related filings
o Providing reports to Employee Services and other department managers as requested.
o Maintaining open communication with all departments
o Ensuring Company benefit programs are managed accurately and efficiently
o Cross training payroll staff to ensure coverage
o Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Certifications)
Associates degree in accounting required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Five +years large company, multi-state payroll experience.
Experience working with complex union contracts, preferred.
Prior experience with UltiPro Payroll and Empowertime, highly preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of corporate accounting processes.
Ability to interact with various levels of management and staff throughout the organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be a team player.
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently.
Computer literate, with the ability to utilize standard software applications and be proficient in Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
Positions at this level have moderate decision-making authority. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Positions at this level have a high level of contact with management and staff throughout the organization. This position is expected to solve problems within policy guidelines while communicating with management within the division.
STRESS ON THE JOB
Positions at this level will encounter varying degrees of stress throughout the month as payrolls are processed and analyzed.
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
Most work requires normal physical effort.
Requires use of personal computer (word processing and spreadsheets) for compiling reports, statistical data, composing memoranda and other similar documents.
