While the B767 fleet operates out of Miami in support of sister company StratAir and out of Honolulu in support of sister company Aloha Air Cargo.

Northern Air Cargo

The VP of Flight Operations serves as a Vice President for Northern Aviation Services, Inc. (NAS) as well as NAS Operating Companies: Northern Air Cargo, Aloha Air Cargo and StratAir, at the discretion of the Operating Company Board of Directors.



Duties and Responsibilities
• Participates as member of executive level management team for NAS and Operating Companies.
• Provides strategic and operational recommendations on all matters related to flight operations and operational control of NAS Part 121 airlines and operations to the president.
• Participates in ongoing strategic planning process for NAS and Operating Companies.
• Develops flight operations policies and procedures (P&Ps) for NAS and its operating brands.
• Drives new processes, as well as being responsible for introducing enhancements to existing processes or programs.
• Supervises and provides general direction to part 121Director of Operations of Operating Companies.
• Ensures development of standardized processes for NAS and Operating Companies to ensure highest possible standards of operational proficiency are maintained.
• Work with Operating Company Part 121 Directors of Operations on operational processes and procedures and resource allocations as well as coordination with regulatory and governmental agencies and representatives.
• Responsible for NAS departmental budgeting as well as Operating Companies budgeting.
• In conjunction with the President (CEO), the VP of Flight Operations will execute a business growth strategy for operational and regulatory affairs and quality assurance activities in support of the company’s goals and objectives.
• Determine an accurate long-range flight crew plan and forecast for responsible operations; accountable for the delivery of business results to cost containment, quality pilot performance and timelines.
• Maintain and enhance business relationships essential for responsible operations. Such relationships include, but are not limited to, relationships with customers, regulatory & government agencies, key management corporate officers and board members.
• Accountable for pilot training programs in regards to system safety, quality and regulatory compliance.



  • Have at least 3 years supervisory or managerial experience within the last 6 years in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted with large airplanes under Part 121 of the Federal Air Regulations.
  • Must have at least 3 years experience as pilot in command of a large airplane operated under part 121 of the Federal Air Regulations.
  • Must possess a full understanding of aviation safety standards and practices, the federal air regulations (14 CFR chapter 1), maintenance and modification of the certificate holder’s operations specifications, all appropriate airworthiness requirements of the FARs, and all applicable legal requirements to maintain safe operations.


  • Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline with a minimum of seven years of experience in all phases of management; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An advanced degree is highly desirable.

  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills to communicate with a wide variety of audiences including senior-level managers, regulatory agencies, contractors, company-wide peers, subordinates and others.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, a 5-year background check and a 10-year criminal records check and must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
