Provides supervision and direction of the marine shop personnel and the repair and maintenance programs covering Tropical’s fleet of vessels.

Supervises job performance and work performed by the marine shop personnel.
Organizes and plans vessel maintenance in conjunction with the Marine Engineering Managers.
Responsible for organizing equipment repair and asset control and tracking of Tropical assets externally.
Maintains and monitors the amount of Marine Shop spare parts for the various vessels including engine parts, electrical parts, and tools.
Assists Marine Engineering Manager and shop personnel with trouble shooting vessel problems and assists with repairs..
Responsible for shop safety and maintaining the Marine Shop in constant state of readiness for OSHA inspections.
Performs all other assigned duties.
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering Technology.
EXPERIENCE: Four years of shore-side supervisory experience in repair and maintenance and two years as sea-going Engineer of motor vessels.
LICENSE: Valid Local Driver's License and Valid Passport
TRAVEL: 20% travel to both domestic and international Tropical locations.
PHYSICAL: Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time up to 8 hours per day. Mobility required to oversee operations activities and to perform inspection duties. Ability to frequently twist, bend, read, squat, kneel and climb heights up to 15 feet, occasionally must lift and carry up to 80 lbs. Able to withstand occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions. Ability to travel in various modes of transportation (e.g. automobile, airplane, train etc.)
