Northern Air Cargo

The Maintenance Controller will coordinate scheduled and unscheduled Maintenance on Company Aircraft at Outstation locations and ensure timely return to service.

• Reports current fleet status and any pertinent maintenance activities to Director, Maintenance on a regular basis.
• Coordinate maintenance operational issues; AOG’s, Delays, Mechanical Interruption’s, Scheduled and Un-Scheduled maintenance with the Operation Control Center (OCC), Flight Ops, Flight Control and Traffic Departments.
• Coordinates with Maintenance, Maintenance Production Planning, Stores and QC Inspection/Records, providing current and continuing follow-up to ensure positive corrective action is made as promptly as possible for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
• Ensure ETOPS compliance, determines post-maintenance ETOPS conformity and suitability for ETOPS operations at outstations, Calculates Oil Consumption rates for ETOPS and ensures compliance with post-maintenance ETOPS verification program.
• Administer and control use of Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and Configuration Deviation List (CDL) to ensure flight safety and regulatory compliance.
• Evaluate reported aircraft discrepancies and develop appropriate repair or recovery plan.
• Open and track work orders and record maintenance compliance through Outsource Maintenance Providers.
• Create return to service estimates for AOG aircraft
• Establish work order estimates and preliminary costs associated with 3rd party vendors for Line Maintenance
• Monitor aircraft cycles and flying hours to ensure time-sensitive inspections, scheduled maintenance or MEL/CDL expiration times do not lapse.
• Review aircraft work packages to ensure they are in compliance with all applicable FARs and General Maintenance Manual procedures.
• Identify and evaluate opportunities to perform maintenance when operational schedules permit
• Coordinate administrative processes for aircraft ferry permit authorization
• Determine and supply required manuals and tasks for aircraft repair to OMP.
• Keep up to date turnover information on aircraft in maintenance for respective fleet
• Maintain fleet Status whiteboards in OCC to reflect fleet current status.
• Facilitate operational and maintenance advice and solutions to mechanics and flight crew at Line Stations.
• Authorizes the use of and supervises on-call maintenance provider vendors contracted to perform maintenance and return aircraft to service.
• Maintains liaison with OEM’s Field service offices.
• Maintains liaison with OMP’s.
• Other duties as assigned by Director of Maintenance.

Holds a current mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings, at least one year of experience in a position responsible for troubleshooting and returning company airplanes to service.  Experience acting in a lead or supervisory capacity during the past 5 years preferred, but not required.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to respond to inquires or complaints from regulatory agencies.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from all levels of the organization.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as engine oil quantity utilization, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram for and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant

Familiarity with FAR’s, company policies and procedures.
