This position is primarily responsible for acting as a liaison between the dock workers and Dock Supervisor, ensuring freight is handled properly and efficiently as directed by the Dock supervisor.


  • Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the efficient and effective handling of all freight during a given shift
  • Load/unload containers, lift materials, and identify, label, count, receive, and issue materials
  • Pack and/or ship materials in compliance with DOT and hazardous materials regulations
  • Leads staff of up to five (5) dock workers, providing work direction, and training to these employees
  • Ensure the accurate processing and completion of customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions
  • Coordinate, schedule, and maintain internal and external shipments per established guidelines
  • Read, analyze, and interpret procedures, and/or governmental regulations and ensure compliance
  • Deal effectively with abstract and concrete variables
  • Identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, resolving issues in a timely manner
  • Field incoming calls and emails, responding appropriately and timely to internal/external customer inquiries
  • Maintain e-logs on all refrigeration units
  • Prepare reports of shift activities at the end of each shift
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards with focus on the care and custody of materials
  • Other duties as assigned


  • High school diploma, or equivalent required
  • Two to four years’ experience in warehousing, materials handling, HAZMAT or a related field is required
  • Prior experience in forklift operations is preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
