Northern Air Cargo

A Flight Support Agent accompanies each flight out of Anchorage to ensure that all required policies and procedures are followed in the handling of cargo on board and that all loading and unloading activity is accomplished safely and efficiently.The Flight Support Agent assists the Cargo Services department by performing the following duties:

• Ensures the proper loading and unloading of all planned freight and mail in a safe, accurate and timely manner, and that all loads are properly secured in the aircraft.

• Will accompany flights and direct the loading and unloading activities at outstations. • Ensures compliance with the regulations for the loading of hazardous materials.

• Operates all ground service equipment in a safe manner.

• Assist in planning loads to maximize the usage of space and payload on the aircraft.

• Prepares and signs load sheets for flights as required.

• Responsible for the accuracy of all required paperwork and documentation.

• Ensures adherence to all procedures in the Manuals for cargo ramp agents.

• Makes sure all tasks required for their flight are completed.

• Other duties may be assigned.


High School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED).

Must be able to interact well with cargo, customer service, and load control employees, along with other departments, and customers.

Accurate math skills are a must.

Valid drivers license.

Regular attendance and shift work is required.

Ability to load and unload aircraft.

Work with little or no supervision and accomplishes tasks as assigned.

Must have a history of outstanding interpersonal relationships with customers and coworkers.

Must have experience working with Microsoft Office software and the ability to learn basic computer applications.

The work is classified as “heavy”.

Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.

Must be able to push or pull pallets weighing as much as 2,000 lbs.

Must successfully complete an approved Flight Support training course.

Must have facial hair trimmed to allow oxygen mask to seal properly.

This job requires flying on company aircraft and occasional overnight stays in outstations.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, 5-year background check, 10-year criminal history check and security threat assessment.
