Foss Maritime

The Fleet Engineering Intern will be expected to assist the Fleet Engineering Team with daily activities to ensure safe and reliable operations of our harbor and ocean tugs. In addition, the Intern will be assigned specific tasks to improve the team’s effectiveness to accomplish vessel inspection, maintenance and repair work. Travel may be required, and work will be performed in environments ranging from outside to inside, noisy to quiet, hot to cold, and wet to dry, as well as in normal office environments. Regular and predictable attendance is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Vessel inspections
  • Developing/Revising vessel technical drawings
  • Weight and moment calculations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • MS Excel
  • Understanding of vessel design and construction
  • AUTOCAD 2015

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates currently or recently having attended a 4-year university with degree in an engineering discipline.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily in an office environment with potential for periodic visits to shipyards, and vessels. Must be able to access all areas of shipyard and company property including administration building, shipyard and shipyard offices, dry-docks, and terminal in all types of weather. Use of shipyard safety equipment, such as hard hat and safety glasses is required.
