What does an Accounts Receivable Specialist do?

The position requires excellent communication, documentation, prioritize time vs workload, and works well with a team. This role handles the recording of cash receipts from the bank systems to the accounting system. Working within the Accounting Shared Services department this position will provide Accounts Receivable accounting services to Tote Inc. operating companies. This role is also responsible for the accuracy of the cash receipts as it relates to the general ledger and to ensure adherence to company policy and procedures.

Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for accurate cash application to customer accounts and preparing periodic reports.
  • Assist Accounting Services Manager with the reconciliation from the sub-ledger to general ledger to close the A/R sub-ledger monthly
  • Daily reconciliation of cash batches to bank activity
  • Provide the collection and audit staff notifications and documentation of unequal payments.
  • Processing of refunds, bad debt write-offs and contributions as requested within company policy.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Accounts receivable experience (3 years)
  • Associates degree desired in accounting, bookkeeping, or related field
  • Keen eye for detail with Excellent data entry skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Excellent customer service skills with extraordinary organizational skills
  • Solid understanding of accounting software and imaging systems
  • Ability to propose practical solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Must be a phenomenal teammate
  • Computer literate, with the ability to use standard software applications and be proficient in Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
